Did you uninstall--purge, the original installation? You may also need to make sure you have all of your Ubuntu repos available for needed dependencies.
http://repogen.simplylinux.ch/You would want to make sure your sources in
etc/apt
match and are open(No #)
Also there appears to be an issue with the template on 4.2.1, I am not sure about Lite(Final 4.2?) and 4.2(Beta?..ugh, this is why I stopped using Ultimate Edition) so maybe check to make sure this is set as well. I believe it was altered for customization and so it appears in Grub as Ultimate Edition but it causes issues and was an issue as far back as 3.4.1 Lite.
viewtopic.php?f=134&t=9881&start=10#p81865Probably fix software center issues as well, but software center sucks, if you want to get better at this and learn more stop using crutches like Software Center and Synaptic.
It would be farrrrrrrrr easier to install Mint, take a USB with Ultimate Edition on it, load it, and transfer the theming and Icons...
Basically, load the USB and go root
Terminal
- Code: Select all
sudo passwd
Create a password...
- Code: Select all
su
- Code: Select all
caja
If it doesn't launch....
- Code: Select all
dbus-launch caja
Now go to usr/share
and move what you want from
usr/share/backgrounds
usr/share/icons
usr/share/themes
Into Mints---
usr/share/backgrounds
usr/share/icons
usr/share/themes
I mean..If you are trying to make Ultimate Edition look like Mint, what does it matter if you are making Mint look like Ultimate Edition?
You will lose TMOSB, which I have yet to ascertain what the needed repos are, or if they are available for use(Why install Ultimate Edition to make a U.E to isntall Ultimate Edition?)
But you can definitely get Thumbos to work through available Debs and Thee is usually on top of the tools. I haven't used keysnatcher, but GPG keys have never been an issue for me personally.
