new repos loaded all upgrades install i got a distro upgrade to 2.6.31-15 no effect on sound over hdmi


let me read that other post you wrote on the nevidia ..

should i try installing the errr fglrxx driver with the ati catalist?

also here is a new version of aplay do I need to make adjustments to alsa base file again?

No...unless you want to uninstall it,and install the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver again.

Not sure.But it won't hurt.


open mplayer from a terminal,and you can see what errors it throw up.

I don't think the graphics card has anything to do with it....maybe.Everything I seen refers to alsa.But just incase...do you have the same version of graphics drivers as I do?

Keep in mind that I personally don't use hdmi.So everything I suggest I'm getting of the net...no hands on experience.

yes that one and the radeonhd both make sound .. the radeonhd overrides the xorg server your pointing to
gives a few extra resolutions.. and provides stereo headphones option in the sound config GUI but i uninstalled it because it didn't fix the problem and it kills three dee

couldnt get your ppa to load see 404 post

reconpiling alsa source now even with out your modes maybe itll make a deffrance maybe not its takeing long enuff any way so far its rebuilt three dependacy trees and then two more from that . so still rolling
