The updater - that runs upon installation - ran automatically earlier and the process was reasonably quick and completely painless. I think I even saw updates with "kernel" in their filename, something that would have frightened me if I'd had time to think about it beforehand. Whatever requirements/dependencies that needed to be addressed... were - and without any input on my part other than letting the updater do its thing. It seems that linux has truly become the OS that anyone can use without fear even if they aren't exactly tech-savy.
One thing that I did notice that I don't understand is that it updated Firefox (several of the filenames had Firefox in their title) to version 3.0.13, but according to Firefox their current linux version is 3.5.2. Why didn't the updater upgrade FF to the newest version on my system?
Thanks,
Driver
