They use a play on words at best. The so called 3Gb is really 300MB. (The lower case b is for bit, not bite as in the upper case B. And there is a 1,000% difference in the two. 3,000 vs 300) And we all know that even these numbers never happens.
If you use the 300GB Raptors in raid you may see 175-200 MB speeds, but at $600 is it really worth it? The new 1.5TB Seagate drives in Raid 0 should give you 150MB+ speed (And in some test the Seagate drive out performs the Raptor.) at less then half the price, and 5 times the volume, this may be the best bet.
I have 4 Seagate 1.5TB drives awaiting there new home in a ULTIRAID BOX HD-3401-SRD Aluminum 3.5" Four Bay SATA (SATA I and II) HDD JBOD/BIG/RAID0 1 External Enclosure w/ Removable Tray & Cooling Fan.
I am also going to try Raid )
With 2 Seagate 1.5TB drives for the operating system. Along with my 8gigs of Corsair Dominator 1066MHZ DDR II Memory, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 3 GHz @1333 MHz, Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P MB. Corsair 850 Watt power supply, VisionTek All-In-Wonder HD Deluxe - graphics adapter - Radeon HD 3650 - 512 MB video card.
I really hope the Ultimate Edition 2.1 X64 works with my system. I can always fall back on Vista X64, but don't want to.

And I believe you just have not gotten your dose of f#ck you's yet.
The kind of speeds I want is what the damn drive say's it is capable of and that is 3 gig speeds and not simply a 40 to 80 meg speed. WTF, talk about false advertising.
