Firewall Builder

Postby oceania68 » Tue May 03, 2011 8:15 pm

In my attempts to get Firewall Builder to installed on Oz Unity and successfully after a few minor obstructions, it is unfortunate that it actually doesn't run in Oz Unity, for reasons I don't know. But hopefully our dear devs will look at this in the next version.... alas to say, I have UE2.9 installed now and Im attempting to recreate the install of fwbuilder, (so far so good), its installing... but the test will come when i got to actually use it... stay tuned... :D

Note: Success..... anyone else wishing to install and build a firewall... the instructions are here...

http://www.linux.com/learn/tutorials/431659-build-powerful-linux-firewalls-with-firewall-builder

and remember every step is a su or sudo ..... I found that when u had to add the

deb http://www.fwbuilder.org/deb/stable/ maverick contrib

to the bottom of the source.list, you MUST have privileges, so what i did was navigate to the file, right click on the sources.list, go to scripts, open with gedit as root...... this will allow you to write to sources.list as a privilege user. Then at the bottom of the source.list you add

deb http://www.fwbuilder.org/deb/stable/ maverick contrib

Save then close... BUT BEFORE YOU GO FURTHER with those instructions on the linux.com site... In terminal, do

sudo apt-get update

first... so it then registers that in your own repository, then continue with the instructions... it then should, with luck for you, install... then after that... continue with the tutorial.... good luck...
