Open current theme, then K3B
Screenshot2.png
Change to another theme
Screenshot3.png
Close k3b, then re-open it

OK - from the beginning! The Window Manager is Compiz, and the Window Decorator is GTK. I right-click on the desktop and click Change Desktop background. I open K3b which looks as it does in Screenshot1 Then I go to Themes, change the Theme, and K3b becomes readable -Screenshot2. I then close K3b, re-open it, and it's all gone again -Screenshot3. Any ideas please??

Bro, these programs use KDE colors.

Not compiz or gtk, don't matter if it is set to them by compiz or not. They are KDE plane and simple. Ya need to stop kicking your own azz , simplify your understanding and stop complicating It bud.

Only one way to set there colors, system settings .

Dead give away is when the app said KDE at the start or on a splash screen.

Thanks Guru! For the benefit of others who might face this problem, go to System-Preferences-System Settings-Application Appearance, then clicking "Defaults" did it for me. Changed header to "SOLVED".
