Every time I login, I have go to System Settings / Keyboard&Mouse / Mouse / Advanced and reset the speed of my mouse.
Otherwise it runs DEAD slow. This does not happen with the KDE desktop. But that is not my favorite desktop.
How do I get it to keep the settings ? I am using a logitech mouse.

In some of the application, KDE and XFCE, I have no bottom or top panel. When I minimize an application
it does not appear anywhere and I am unable to re-maximize or deiconify it to use it.
In LXDE, I have a bottom panel but when I minimize an application, it also does not appear as a minimized icon
to click on and maximize for use. In Lubuntu and Gnome desktop minimize application works ok, but the mouse
is dead slow unless you keep resetting it.

When I play a music CD or a DVD movie, it works for about 20 minutes then I get numerous error in
/var/logs/syslog . Stuff about buffer I/O error on /dev/sr1, and end request I/O error sector "xyz"
Eventually I have to reboot and start over because the system freezes.

I have 4 GB ram.

I also wonder if it would be possible to add the "cu" uucp package in future editions. Some of us still need
modems to dial into various computers without using PPP.

Hello Goldie.

First I will say that this issue has solution from TheeMahn on the Forum,
And JOHNNYG has post some Guides for How To fix the issue with the Themes.
Please use the search on the forum for the Answers.
The second part will be on the CD/DVD ,
to me it looks like that you did not install all the support for multimedia on your machine - look for the multimedia Guide on the Forum please.
The last part as I can understand is with compiz that was not configure right with the minimize an application .
Just look into the compizConfig setting manger + look into Ubuntu Tweak for the tab for compiz manger.
This 3 parts will set all your issues on all the sessions with KDE,Gnome, XFCE, and so on.
