Scaner not detected Epson Stylus NX400 copier/scaner/printer

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.6

Scaner not detected Epson Stylus NX400 copier/scaner/printer

Postby DavidDJ » Thu Jan 20, 2011 10:11 pm

Scanner not detected, Epson Stylus NX400 All In One Printer
Tried to run AcquireImage and Simple Scan. Each one fails to detect the scanner. The printer works fine. I am running
Ultimate Edition 2.6.
Is there drivers I need to install?
Any help would be appreciated.

Scanners are bit odd in ubuntu.
It works, but needs a root account to work.

Most can be modified to be allowed to work for all users.

Google it or check with manufacture for all user fix.

I am on my iPad right now, when I am on my Pc. I will post code on how it is done. You will just need to mod the code to fit your needs.

Ubuntu 9.10, 10.04
1. Open "/lib/udev/rules.d/40-libsane.rules" file.
2.Add the following two lines to the 2nd to the end of the device list. (Before the line "# The following rule will disable ..."):

The lines to be added---------------------------

# (name of scanner manufacture here) scanners
ATTRS{idVendor}=="04f9", ENV{libsane_matched}="yes"

3. Restart the OS.

All you need is your idvendor info.

Add the manufacture of the scanner and replace () .

Wala scanner will now work for all users.

Note: add this before the last one listed, not to the end to work.

Epson support their printers/scanners with Linux-drivers if you look at their homepage http://www.epson.com/ - I just installed a Epson SX125 on my PC and both scanner and printer runs smooth ;) Your printer is on the list too :)

Had a chance to install one of these printers yesterday.

Unlike brother, once drivers where installed and all dependancies met. Scanner works with no addition mod.

Just a little FYI for the future.

Uffe, good call. Still learning the Linux end, I had not installed one of these printers just yet.

Now I have, you hit the nail on the head. Thanks
