This is the chipset info for it.
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 148f:2870 Ralink Technology, Corp.
I'm looking thru the bug reports now to see what's going on with it.

Did it work when using the livedvd ?

Nope, it would give me the same problem, however, when I did the updates after installing Ultimate Edition 2.6 it would connect on and off. Then after doing the updates I had serious issues with getting dual monitors to work or even getting my main monitor to its default resolution. So im trying to stay away from the updates till i get my wireless card working properly. Thanks for all the help so far :D

Well right now it looks like the latest driver is here
Ralink site

It this one
RT2870USB(RT2870/RT2770 12/04/2009 2.3.0.0
and you would want both the driver and the pdf file that tells how to install it.

Here's a guide for Karmic. I haven't found anything for lucid.
[SOLVED] Karmic RT2870 Driver Tutorial

If the first guide fails for some reason.
This thread has it working in Karmic too, be sure to read the thread first 1 page + 1 post, before starting the instructions in post # 6 by jh55chn.
RT2870. Help!

Remember the ID for your card is 1532:000c you may need it.

So it's the driver is why you're unable to connect. Once you get that squared away you'll be set.
That's the best I can find at the moment.
;)
Time for me to do an install on this machine so I'll be back after dinner. ;)
