Problem with installing 32 bit game in Ultimate Edition 2.5-X64

Hello, I tried searching for a resolution but found nothing, but I thought I'd ask, sorry, appreciate any help!!

I just installed Ultimate Edition 2.5 64-X64 on an older system, loaded, installed just perfectly, graphics, sound, internet, everything flawlessly!!

I tried installing an older game called Unreal Tournament Goty Edition that's 32 bit, and I wanted to see if this game would work in Ultimate Edition 2.5-x64 and I downloaded the Loki installer from Loki and copied the file to my Desktop, this game did work just fine in older 32 bit versoins of Ultimate Edition 2.1, 2.2, but I have moved to the newer 64 bit flavors, but I'm not sure if I read anything on trying to run 32 bit games in 64 bit os'es are not very compatable? With similar problems with Win7, they have a similar problem with shutting down 1 core of a dual core cpu, and even adding a command to the exe file for cpu-speed= to equate the cpu speed or something to that effect. I did get the game to work in 32bit flavors of Ultimate Edition 2.2, but there were issues when the game started, the mouse would not stay inside the window, but the game worked great using the Loki installer and not Wine, and not play-on-linux.

Also, I'm wondering about the MAC version, maybe running a mac os, since it's ported and made for mac as well, which versions of Mac os are people using, just a thought.

Here is a copy and paste of the error, appreciate any help and suggests, sorry for the long post:

molde@molde-desktop:~$ cd Desktop
molde@molde-desktop:~/Desktop$ sh unreal.tournament_436-multilanguage.goty.run
Verifying archive integrity... All good.

In a nut shell...yes it could be.At least when it comes to gaming.

error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

This a 64,32 bit conflict. You can manual install the 32 bit libs tho,but I'm not sure if it will goof or not.

but the game worked great using the Loki installer and not Wine, and not play-on-linux.

Wine ,and Playonlinux is the same. The latter being a front end for Wine. You might look into winetricks.

Winetricks has helped me get a lot of apps working. The "trick" is knowing what you need for a particular app tho.

My guess is your missing dependencies that aren't 64 bit compatible...or they just aren't available through karmic. As a rule of thumb a 32 bit Linux machine runs more games than a 64 bit machine....just the nature of the beast.Though this is all from my experience.I haven't twiddled with karmic much at all, maybe someone else has more insight ?

Thanks Cell,

Yea I figured it had to do with 64 bit dependencies, I will check out your links, nice links to look for info.

I think I may re-format my drive that has UE-2.5 on it and re-install 2.2-X86, or maybe 2.5-x86, and see how that works. I see there is a large group here playing urban terror, if it's like Unreal Tournament, I will give this a go!
Been playing Unreal Tournament since 1999, don't play it too much, but trying to build a new pc for a buddy and he wants to be able to play Unreal Tournament, and I'm trying to not go back to Windows, and trying to just use this as my main OS. Maybe some will have some other suggests to try, but Unreal Tournament was not ported for Linux, and running it throught a emulator is not the greatest. Thanks!

Edit, holy cow the link to ubuntu shows everything, Cell your awesome!!! THANKS!!!

I thinks it runs on the same engine as Unreal. Its a little different, but the same if you know what I mean.
