Hi Solo

My own thoughts is that TheeMahn can see how Ultimate Edition can be improved with each release, especially when a new flavour of Ubuntu is released (Jaunty, Karmic etc) and he is giving us the benefit of his abilities and forward thinking.

Each version of Ultimate is an improvement on the last, because TheeMahn trials different stuff, to see what works best, then feeds it to Admins and Mods to try and break.....which is difficult to do.

After all that above, TheeMahn is a VERY intelligent and clued-up guy with knowledge that far surpasses myself, so if he believes he can release a version that'll knock your socks off....then he will.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Yes that helps ,but {theres always one} I installed 2.4 in my receptionists desktop , took me weeks to persuade her to try it over vista , and she lost all her bookmarks, not gonna tell her there is a 2.5

lost her bookmarks? I recommend Xmarks a Firefox extension that goes on all my installs. Lets you synchronize and reinstall your bookmarks seamlessly. It will also keep your passwords from PC to PC.

AAhhh...the afterthought of backup.

Bookmarks in Firefox are in it's on folder (home/.mozilla).

The . preceding means it is hidden, but ctrl-h reveals hidden folders....copy everything inside the (random nmbrs/letters).default folder.

After installation, run Firefox then close it. Go back to the home/.mozilla folder and open the new (random nmbrs/letters). default folder and paster what you had backed up in there.

From Vista, It's the favourites folder you need to backup, and then when starting Firefox, you get the option to import the Favorites from IE.

That is, of course, in case you were using IE in Vista.

Wth Firefox, I am sure thereis an addon to backup/restore your settings...just a matter of ensuring the add-on is installed with Firefox when you go to restore it.

Hope this helps.

Also, In Firefox Bookmarks>Organize>Import and backup>backup, And save to where ever you save your backed-up home folder, (storage drive , Flash drive, Ect.) then to restore Bookmarks>organize book marks>import and backup> then navigate to where you stored your bookmarks

I use Febe in Firefox

I second that vote for FEBE.

I use it to sync Firefox across multiple systems, and I can access my bookmarks and addons etc. from any system via my box.net account. It has saved my tuchus many times.

Tryed FEBE awhile back, not sure why I quit using it. I think the interface seemed a little complex, but yea it's good.

now I need something to replace Plaxo for Thunderbird 3. Plaxo helps you synch your address book.

OP: there isn't anyone here with extreme interest in you using up dvds. I bought a 4gb flash drive that i put every version on, using unetbootin of course, and waste no dvds!

really easy to do.
