Wallpaper Changer [SOLVED]

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.3

Wallpaper Changer [SOLVED]

Postby buschbarber » Tue Sep 01, 2009 11:33 am

In the past, I have used a program called wallpaper-tray to rotate the Wallpaper images on my Desktop. I have used Synaptic to install it.

I have tried several times to install in under Ultimate Edition 2.3, via Synaptic. Synaptic has the latest version. It appears to install OK, but I cannot find it in any of the Application Menus and it does not appear with other apps in /usr/bin. It also will not launch if I run Terminal and type in wallpaper-tray.

Any ideas why this will not install or if there is a better app?

Right click on your panel (or tray if you prefer) and choose add to panel. You will find wallpaper-tray there.

Interesting!! I do not recall having to access wallpaper-tray in this manner before. Is this something they changed in the latest version of the software or is it due to changes in Ultimate Edition?

It's a change how wallpaper-tray was written for Ubuntu 9.04. The rationale was that the notification area was not meant for that kind of "live" program. Go figure.

Thanks to all!! I am currently using wallpaper-changer, but I will try all the other suggestions, as well.

Is there a good source for a variety of images that can be used for Wallpaper?
