Add Download Manager with browser integration in Ultimate/Ub

Postby jai » Sun Aug 02, 2009 9:21 pm

Hello everybody...

Here is the solution for a long time problem - download manager with browser integration.

Here are the steps (I am just keeping it short and clean)
i) Download and install any favourite browser of yours in Wine. It should be a Windows version.
ii) Now download and install your favourite (Windows)Download Manager (I refer Free Download Manager or Orbit) in Wine.
iii) During installation of the download manager integrate it with your newly installed browser or after installation.
iv) Now open your new browser and try to download something and it will automatically be transfered to your download manager.Enjoy !!!

I hope it could help many people out there.

Thanks... :)

I know it bro' but it seems to be troublesome on Linux. Most of the time it consumes near to 1-1.5Gb of RAM and high CPU. I am not in favor of sacrificing so much of RAM and CPU only for downloading some iso. Thats why I needed to find better alternative. Currently I am downloading Elive through it only and RAM use is at 982 MB :? after 2 hrs.

Have you tried using "Uget" its a very good download manager, the only problem is that, it doesn't supports browser integration!! You would of to copy the download URL's & paste it in to the program!!

i have tried everything u have posted ,yes everything works(falshget, orbit....) except the most wanted download manager IDM(internet download manager).it installs (with browser integration ),but it can not download any file from internet,i mean it can not connect to the internet totally;shows disconnected all the time.i m not sure what is the problem.is there any special configuration in wine or in cmd line (terminla) or something else?
i also checked IDM with crossover 6 and crossover 8,but every time same result.
never mind ,i have already posted for the problem.

ANY SOLLUTIONS?

Hello touhid.

well I have made some test to see way it is not working for you.
so first you did not add to FireFox the plug in of flashgot:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/220

then you did not configure the wxDownload fast to be your download manager.
here is how it has to work.

thanks, but my problem is till unsolved .I have used flashgot, downloadthemall,wxDownload fast, uget and other softs and but none of them is as fast and user friendly as IDM.
actully all the time i post for the solution for the problem everyone point me to those download manager,no one solve the problem,in fact no one actually try to solve the problem.
i just wanted to know why other download manger works with wine and IDM does not get the internet connection.
whatever,thanks for ur reply. <BREW>
