Ultimate 2.2 and 2.3 live cd freezes at startup

I had both cds working a few times. Now they suddenly freeze while loading. Mouse pointer does not move. System is a dell laptop. DuoCore. 4gig ram. Nvidea graphics card. I checked the md5 on both and burned as slow as I was able to. (4x) I sthere anyway to fix this?

I have had this happen on a hot machine, and after letting it set overnight worked fine the next day, I put the same DVD in another cold machine and booted no problem! its probably the optics getting hot and distorting the lens. :geek:

Had similar things happen with the temperature of the cd/dvd media as well - very very slight warping of the plastic. Additionally, do you have any other peripherals attached to the PC? and lastly - any fingerprints on the cd/dvd media? (I know these are very basic suggestions, but you'd be surprised how often the simple things prove to be the cause). ;)

P.S. Might be worthwhile to run the memory test option from the boot DVD menu for a few hours to make sure its not your Ram.

Good idea ;) My lap top has recently slowed down,and performs like xp did on it.I couldn't for the life of me figure it out for a bit.Then I started conky up and it only showed 256 megs of ram....I had a damn stick of memory go goofy on me.

This is the second time I've had memory go bad on me.(different machines)

My Ram is ok. I re-burned the cd and the problem is gone. Must have been a bad burn after all. Thanks for your help! :)
