broken after update[not yet solved,please help me out]

It got broken after update, right. So my suggestion would be to re-install Ultimate and avoid any update regarding X.org or Compiz.
And yes bro' , it would take far less than an hour

I do believe your cpu is 64 bits.Your tv card...Ill see what I can find.

I also installed ATI catalyst.....and another ATI program...this was before the restart..

with your card...yes thats the problem.Your only able to use the open source drivers with your card.

To fix it as is you have to uninstall the ati driver(this will leave you with no log in screen),and install the vesa driver from the repo's.....in a nut shell.

like I said Ill check in later if you decide to fix it,or like jai said you can just back up important info using the live dvd,and reinstall.

Looks like your tuner card is supported....

add:/etc/modprobe.d/options the following: "options bttv card=46 tuner=5 radio=1"
or...

sudo rmmod bttv
sudo rmmod tuner

Next, load the correct types, substituting the numbers from the lists for x and y:
(Your card is card=46)
(If you have a Phillips NTSC tuner it would be tuner=2)

sudo modprobe bttv card=46 tuner=5

You may also have luck loading them as 2 separate commands:

sudo modprobe bttv card=46
sudo modprobe tuner type=5


its a little messy,but you might be able to make heads or tails of it.Ill clean it up later if needed.

Im not sure of the tuner type.If you can look on the card it self.I'm just guessing its a phillips tuner.It should be listed on the big silver square thing

hi guys!I'm back!I've installed Ultimate 2.3, and updated it!
the commands for the TV tuner does not work,unfortunately...or i might not be doing it properly!
so,i still have some problems...i don't have the nice effects although i've updated the OS..no desktop effects, i think its a driver problem! let me
have a nice desktop like yours guys...
please help me out to solve this!

I've an Asus DRW-22B1L 22x22 pata....how can i use its lightscribe...by the nero 8 does it.
