The "conflicting codecs" possibility has my vote.
Is it possible that there are two codecs that play these types of files - but only one of them will properly deal with the "check DRM, go out and check permissions to view, then view" and the other one just plays completely unrestricted files?
If that possibility does exists, maybe the first codec in line to be tried is the one that only handles unrestricted content and instead of passing on the file, the process just stops?
EDIT: Or... Didn't this browser family used to have an option to have it tell the webpages you visit that it was a different browser? Maybe you are not seeing that music because the browser is identifying itself as one that the site doesn't
believe is capable of playing it.
Lastly, I have (in Windows, but...) used a plug-in for Firefox in the past that was an IE-emulation plug-in of sorts. I found some pages that would not correctly work in Firefox but they worked with all their bells and whistles using the plug-in. You might try using it.
I will now stop butting in to this thread and just follow along. ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)
