My case was thrown out! :)
This is a massive download and I started it yesterday afternoon. I came back this morning and find an installation error (sorry didn't save the text) I have had that with WINE in the past, some windows programs simply won't install. I am gonna google it a little and see if anyone has had luck installing CoH under wine.

It is possible that it won't install because of graphic issues.Any open gl errors pop up while installing?

There is also a new release of wine. Wine 1.1.25 was release on July 4th. Would be a good idea if you tried running it on the revised release. Its a good chance it may work as they have fix lots of bugs etc.

Wine 1.1.25:

I know in my case, I couldn't run CoH thru Wine mainly because i haven't installed the ATI drivers for my laptop (Inspiron 6000 Intel Pentium M 1.86Ghz ATI Radeon Mobility x300). Attempted 2 times before to install thru EnvyNG but both ended up crashing my system (first time fatal error, second time xserver "no screen found" message) and after installing Ultimate Edition 5 times already in a week i'm not in any hurry to try again.

This because the propitiatory ati driver doesn't support you graphics chip.at this time you can only use the open source driver...which lacks on the 3d acceleration....keep in mind this is all for Jaunty. In 8.10 everything should work as is...I had a killer game machine in 2.0,and.2.1,because I could use the ati driver.

Yea, I don't know what errors popped up because it ran overnight. I will look at the new wine, that might fix things. This is mostly academic for me, because I do still have an XP disk that it runs on.

You know ill let you in on one of my secrets....

If your xp is on a separate disk Ill assume you duel boot, and when your in linux you can see your xp disk.Just run the game exe. on the xp partition with wine. ;) .Don't try to install it again with wine....you already have it.This works 100% with me,and has been working for years....if the apps will run in wine at all.

Of course it would help we knew what graphic card your running also.

Now that one of cell's many secrets is out of the bag, I'll just add that this method works like a charm in most cases for me!! Lets just hope your case don't get thrown out again
