Can't install with P45XE...

Re: Can't install with P45XE...

Postby JamesR311 » Sat Jul 11, 2009 7:27 am

ok I have unallocated space on hard drive but it still kicks me out to busybox. I'm not looking at it right now but the casper.log says something like can't open dev\sda: no such file unable to find live file system....

Thanks for they help, I don't know why 2.1 will boot the LiveDVD but 2.2 won't...

That's okay with me, where do I download?

Do you think that if others are having problems with this too that it's just a hardware support issue? When I google around I don't find solutions but I see people blaming the 1CH10R and the P45. Some claimed success with alternate install cd but ultimate doesn't have that right? Next time I'm building a more linux friendly computer!

Downloading everything now, I will try to get this installed in a couple of hours.

I only tried 64bit version of 2.2, but there should be no difference correct?

amir wrote:OK. here is small trix that you can do to reset your battery on the board.
you need just one peace of wire from the telephone line- or with or blue,
cut some of 10c,you will have to take of some of the ages from etch side so
you will have the wire out of the plastic.
Now disconnect the power cable from your machine (the black on the main).
take out the board battery.
Now be careful with that part.

you need to connect the wire for exactly 7 sec!!
the wire in bout sides of the battery with your 2 fingers,
then stop!

JUST 7 SEC EXACTLY.
Then pot back the battery to the board and connect the main cable (the black one)
to the power and start the machine.

WAY?
So all what save on the battery will be cleared, and after the restart
All will be written to the battery after restart.

good luck to you JamesR311

OK, this one I don't buy :!: :!: What You are doing there is just shortcutting the cmos battery and very possibly brake it. If you wanna reset the cmos, just remove that battery in a few minutes - or on almost all MB there is a jumper you can move shortly to reset the cmos.
There are no memory on that battery, just electrical power !

Hi Uffe .
To buy or not to buy my friend that is one thing.
I teach that every day,my student will tell you some thing else .
but let me break it up for you.
when you make shortcutting of 7sec to the battery,
that action delete the memory that stored on it!
If you just take the jumper out and then pot it in :?:
the cable is connect=there is electricity = memory stay!
If you disconnect the battery+you take the main cable (black)out,
then there is no power that can stored the memory on the battery
Just to take out the battery, and take the jumper out then in=reset cmos,
not reset all the memory on the battery!
I did not ask him to reset the cmos, I ask him to reset all the board+cmos+memory!
I hope now you can see the difference between the 2.

First - unless you can show some documentation for it, I don't believe that there is anything else than plain electrical power stored on that battery. Further more, you can read in wikipeia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_battery#Safety_issues_and_regulation

Rapid-discharge issues

Lithium batteries can provide extremely high currents and can discharge very rapidly when short-circuited. Although this is useful in applications where high currents are required, a too-rapid discharge of a lithium battery can result in overheating of the battery, rupture, and even explosion. Lithium-thionyl chloride batteries are particularly susceptible to this type of discharge. Consumer batteries usually incorporate overcurrent or thermal protection or vents in order to prevent explosion.

Seccond - The jumper on MB has to be mowed to a new position and then back, usually described in the MB-manual. Not just removed and put back.
