Hello, I sooner or later end up with no sounds, IF, I am using the normal startup with entering the login name and password. However IF, I select auto logon (bypassing the login name and password entering windows) I have no issues with sound. I have had to do this with the past few versions of both UBUNTU and Ultimate Edition. It seemed like that login process took over the sound and won't release it. When I tried to listen to any songs in any program I would get an error message stating (more or less) that "alsa" was busy and not available. This may not be your issue but it can't hurt to try auto login.

autologin? that makes some sense as I turned it off to play with KDE. I will turn it back on and see if that helps.

BTW, KDE? yea it's OK, but visualy 4.2 is still a bit behind 3.5 IMHO

Well, no love on the audio playback. I reset to autologin, after doing what was suggested up list and still no love. My Sond settings were set to Pulse, no they are set to autodetect.... I am going out of town this weekend, I guess I will boot off a live disk to listen to my music if we don't get this working.

Hello Mazal .

have you try to un install pulseAudio package+pulseAudio-Gstreamer?
to me it looks like the log in and the sound that come with the pulseAudio
are connected with some script or something like that,
and if you past to auto log in it brakes the script/security as well.
So my advice to you PPL is to UN install those 2 packages and see what happens.
