Can't install with P45XE...

be careful my manufacture doesn't even recommend removing the cmos batt for a reset. But in order to do a hard reset I have to take it out for a few hours, and move the jumper....not because the batt has a memory which is physically impossible(these batteries are carbon based),but because all the electricity has to be used up on the curcuitry.....drain the capacitors. All this has to be done with the power off.

When you connect that wire on the batt. all your doing is shortening its life span...short circuit.

me 2 cents.

Hi amir

You know very much more about programming than I do - no doubt about that - and I'm not doing this to harras you, but I don't think its wise to give tips that may ruin peoples hardware.
( I think I know what you are doing by shortcutting the battery - a nearly flat battery will "eat" the power stored i capacitors - but could also kill a the battery )

The story about memory stored in the battery ;) - don't be offended, but if its correct it should be easy finding documentation on the net conserning that. And if your wright - I'l give you a big apollogy :)

enable that option in your bios> (AHCI)

And see if it will work. The problem is tho if your r running windows it will need it.

this is the reason why its recommended to take the battery out for quite some time, move the jumper, remove the power cord, and go out for lunch, and dinner. Then put everything back to its place.

Im an old school over clocker....this method always worked for me ,and others. It isn't uncommon. I would go through this procedure everyday trying to overclock my system.
