Hibernation problem

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.1

Hibernation problem

Postby hacktom » Tue Mar 03, 2009 12:59 pm

I have successfully installed Ultimate 2.1, everything is working fine except that when I try to hibernate in Gnome desktop manager it just lock my screen with no hibernation.
Also how can I remove my KDE dektop manager.
Also in vi text editor when I press up and down key I character B and A gets printed.

I do not use the "Hibernation" feature myself, but I may be able to offer some assistance....

Go to SYSTEM>PREFERENCES>SCREENSAVER , and at the bottom of that window, find and click on the POWER MANAGEMENT button at the bottom. In the next screen, click on the GENERAL tab, and then click on the pull down menu on the 2nd item When the Suspend button is pressed:, and select Hibernate and the click the Close Button at the bottom of the dialog box.

Hopefully this will correct your problem. If not, please post back the results of this action.

I guess you can enable the hibernation from the ubuntu tweak.

none of the above mentioned solution works for me. actually there was no problem in Ultimate 1.8 version. Also suspend is working fine.

Can't say if there is bug since today I installed ubuntu 8.10 over ultimate 2.1 and hibernation is working fine in ubuntu 8.10. Since I am heavily dependent on hibernation I think I should shift to 8.10 and wait for the next version of ultimate.

Thanks for that...have a new problem now though...when I try to hibernate it comes up with 'not enough free swap'. Had a look at partitions and linux-swap is at maximum. is there anything i can do for this?
