Unable to see text in certain messages in Evolution - SOLVED

Postby TexasMike » Thu Sep 11, 2008 10:17 am

Hello all,
Got a little problem with viewing text in certain Emails I receive. In particular, I have problems with HTML based messages. In essence, I cannot view the text in some newsletters I regularly receive. I am including a couple of screen shots to show what I am getting, and what I have been doing to make the text viewable - which is to highlight the body of the message as if to "copy/paste" the content.

This what I see when I receive and open the message....

...and this is what I must do to read the text....

Is there a "Theme" or some other change I can make that will make all these sort of messages readable "as opened" - without the need to highlight the message body to make it readable? I am sure this has probably been answered before, but my searches of the forums did not find anything relevant (could be my search criteria).
I/ve been meaning to ask about this for several months, just not as pressing as other issues, so now is the time...

;)

Mike, just a thought but it looks as if you are using the dark theme that came as default with 1.8. I have experienced problems with some of the dark themes when trying to read e-mail as well. You might try playing with the theme settings in appearance to see if a lighter theme might fix the problem. I had to try several using trial and error to find a theme that worked for my linux mag emails. I am really not that knowledgeable about themes and such but that is what worked for me. <BREW> Moshe

moshe,
I'll try a few different Themes and see if this helps. It may be a few days b4 I can report on the results, though. Today is the 1st time I've been able to get online since Friday nite when Ike came strolling through the Houston area. The eye passed over us early Saturday morning, and power is still not restored, so computer usage is minimal (using small generator now).

moshe,
Thanks for the pointer. I tried several "bright" themes, and quite a few worked just fine. Made a change to one, and all is looking good, no problems with any of my newsletters now. I actually thought this was a Firefox "theme" problem. Live and Learn....
