Panel power button lag after last lot of updates

Strange behaviour that I seem to be getting after installing the last lot of updates. I normally turn my laptop on first thing in the morning, log in, and sign into messenger, then lock it, and go and do other things for a while.

The last two days, i've noticed that the power button on the top panel hasn't worked right after logging in and opening emesene. The only things that have changed are some updates that were installed, and I also had to remove the panel settings files after messing up the order of the icons on it to reset it.

If I either wait for a few minutes after logging into emesene, or close emesene, the power button works perfectly.

It's obviously something to do with emesene that's causing it, but I haven't got a clue what it could be.

If I click on the power button for example three times before it becomes responsive, it will come up with the shutdown dialog when it does, then i'll have to click the cancel button three times to get rid of it, so it's as if it's lagging for whatever reason.

It's unlikely to be lack of ram as the only thing running when it happens is emesene, and i've got plenty of ram (2GB)

I'm not 100% sure that it's just down to emesene though as it never happened when I was running the standard version of ubuntu hardy heron.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Sorry I can't be of much help on this situation :( I thought that I would bumb the topic though to see if we get any fresh 'bytes'.
