Found it, I apologize for not finding it on my own. Thought that 1.8 would have a separate source. Ultimate Edition 1.8 is running great on my machine. Again thanks to Thee Mahn for his hard work and all of the moderators who make this forum an informative place to check out.

Thanks, traffic is through the roof, hopefully paying for the mirror will alleviate the stress on the servers.

hi, just restartet my laptop was traying the UU 1.8 live dvd, looks nice and averythink worked perfect, very fast, faster than 1.7, as i just burned the image i noticed there is the same option as in the regular ubuntu for installing it in a windows partition as an aplication, is that posible? i think it´s not, but wanted to ask.

i´ll install after dinner, while watching 21, this work seems to be really the best that there is, thanks to thee mahn, realy making the word easier for us.

If you are on the desktop (not on an open window on the desktop) your mousewheel should spin your cube to the next desktop/workspace.

Further, in the compiz-config setting manager, enable the Viewport Switcher along with Desktop Cube and Rotate Cube. I'm pretty sure (going by memory here) that Ctl+Alt+Mousewheel will then spin your cube. Not sure about that though, check the keymapping for those plugins.

hi, thanks for the info, i was just wondering if such an install was posible, i know a lot of people who don´t have any idea of partitioning, or dual booting, and while i live in germany, a lot of people i know doesn´t so i think this might be the way for my sisters and parents to migrate to linux.

as i wrirte this email, the instalation of U.U. 1.8 on my laptop is at 94% and running, it´s taken a while longer than 1.7, even though the live dvd works much faster, curios, isn´t it?

the difference between flash and gnash is just the licence or is there also any performance noticeable diference?

Try this:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install -y --force-yes sun-java6-plugin flashplugin-nonfree mozilla-acroread

If it complains about acroread being broken:
Code: Select all
echo "deb http://packages.medibuntu.org/ hardy free non-free" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list
wget -q http://packages.medibuntu.org/medibuntu-key.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add - && sudo apt-get update
apt-get install -y --force-yes acroread-plugin

I will update the homepage to reflect this, sorry, they have not updated acroread on ubuntus repo...

Yeah, I do.

Start by taking your nut's out of that vice and letting the circulation return.

Then, when you can feel them again, fire up a Terminal:

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

Voila... Codecs, MP3, DVD, Flash, Quicktime, WMA and WMV, including both standalone files and content embedded in web pages... Most everything you need.

You can also use Add/Remove and search on Ubuntu-Restricted-Extras, but Real Men use apt-get becuase they want to KEEP their testicles, and keep them running smoothly.

Damn straight.

Using "apt-get" adds two inches of Male Enhancement... EVERY F--KING TIME YOU USE IT!!!
