Hello and welcome to foums,

My first question is, why does your title say upgrade sony xperia pro?? You are not upgrading anything with your posting question.
Next, im not familiar with that software (pc companion) but sony site [0] shows it as something specific to aiding in operations of that computer specifically from sony. Meaning the software works in conjunction with windows and whatever sony has placed on there. No connection to linux whatso ever. Again correct me if im wrong here. Also what are the workarounds you speak of? If this is the correct software i have in link that you are trying to use it has to be on your bare metal system for it to work, not in a virtual machine.
