Hello all, Just curious if anybody can figure out whats happening with my login. Upon booting from hard disk, Login Screen appears - I login as usual the screen goes black (like normal) and then after about 15-20 seconds it reverts back to the login screen again- I login as usual and GNOME displays and everything is normal. I've been looking at my syslog and see that there is a problem right when this happens, but don't exactly know where to go from here. syslog:
Code: Select all
Nov 17 14:24:35 zzmadi-desktop gdm[5438]: gdm_auth_user_add: /home/zzmadi/.Xauthority is not owned by uid 1000.
Nov 17 14:25:54 zzmadi-desktop gdm[5438]: gdm_auth_user_add: /home/zzmadi/.Xauthority is not owned by uid 1000.

Nov 17 14:25:55 zzmadi-desktop gconfd (zzmadi-6565): Resolved address "xml:readonly:/var/lib/gconf/debian.defaults" to a read-only configuration source at position 3
Nov 17 14:25:55 zzmadi-desktop gconfd (zzmadi-6565): Resolved address "xml:readonly:/var/lib/gconf/defaults" to a read-only configuration source at position 4
Nov 17 14:25:59 zzmadi-desktop gconfd (zzmadi-6565): Resolved address "xml:readwrite:/home/zzmadi/.gconf" to a writable configuration source at position 0

I looked in my "users and groups" and didn't see where uid 1000 is at all? I'm prob. not looking in the right spot, but I don't know how to fix this problem, any ideas?
ps- I think when the first time I noticed it, I may have been messing around with users and groups for networking, but don't know how I could have screwed this up  And ntfs is uid 1000

Miraculously cured itself after doing all the Tweaks in TheeMahns How_To  So, no, I don't have a cure to this problem. But it did go away on its own ;)
