Hey,

Thank you for all your replies.

I checked GParted but it seems my card isn't listed on it.

I am going to see if I can format my memory stick under windows as NTFS, since FAT32 seems to be a little bit weird under windows and somehow I don't expect a Linux format to work on the phone.

But before that I will try out all your little tricks.

Thanks

Ok I have just used my USB cable and at first nothing happened and after a few minutes the phone reacted and it appeared on the PC. So do you think it might be down to my Memory Dock?

I don't know much about memory docks, but it does sound like it, if your phone is detected.
F.Y.I. There is always a slight delay when you plug something into a usb port(My usb ports are ancient on this box. I'm still trying to get my usb card to work.
See if you can copy from your phone's memory stick to your hard drive.
If it can, you at least have a temporary fix to get your stuff onto your computer.

It's only that usually Ubuntu is incredibly fast for USB devices. So it took me back. Guess thats the price you pay for being spoilt lol.

Well as I said right at the beginning of the post, it isn't a necessity just would be easy but a connection by USB is just as easy.

Thanks very much for all your contributions

A quick thought...

USB sticks/Flash Drives are usually formatted FAT, not FAT32.

I have just bought a 2GB flash drive which shows up immediatly, with the file system as vfat.

Maybe the card needs to be formatted as FAT to be able to be "seen".

Cheers

Yes it was formatted as FAT and also as FAT32 and both didnt make a difference but if i have the memory card inserted in my phone and that on USB it's instantly recognised. So I think I can safely say the hardware of my card reader isnt fully supported
