1.7 keeps crashing!!!

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.7

1.7 keeps crashing!!!

Postby c/Kr3t » Thu Feb 14, 2008 5:58 pm

Whenever I turn on my computer, the loading boot screen crashes. It just freezes there and doesn't move and I have to start through the recovery mode. When I do THAT it crashes within 5-10 mintues after. Usually when i'm doing something important. It even crashed during the first draft of this. :o

I recently downloaded and installed the newer version of OpenArena and also Tremulous. That's when it started crashing a lot. Before that it just did it every once in a while. :x

I have a theory and correct me if i'm wrong but here it is, I don't have my own seperate computer so I just use my dad's and I have Ultimate Edition 1.7 on my own hard drive that I switch out everytime I use his computer. I'm thinking that the constent disconnecting and reconnecting is what's causeing this but I could be wrong.

Any help to resolve this stressful situation would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend going to the junk computer store and investing in an old P3(Like a Dell Optiplex GX1). That way you won't have to keep swapping the hard drive. Yuo can probably pick one up for 50 bucks. The GX1 is easy to work on, and solid as a rock. I'm sure dad would help you with the small investment. By the way, that's what I'm submitting this post using. many thankx, pch
