You don't. Ultimatix finds YOU when, and if, you are worthy.

When you get tired of waiting look at Applications/System Tools/Add Additional Software.

I downloaded the deb and ran the command.

Where do I find Ultimatix??

I'm running 1.8 64bit.

Cheers

I highly suggest downloading the new one I just attached to the initial post today, all kinks have been worked out for 64 bit except Alien Arena 2007. Much has been added as well.

Enjoy,

TheeMahn

Silly me, you have both versions of the install script attached (v1.8.0 and v1.8.1) in the same post!

I wondered why I was being prompted about reinstalling an existing package... D'OH!!

Actually it is 1.8.0-1 ;) considered a minor revision a major revision would be 1.8.1 (10 builds / releases)

Pretty neat stuff when you get into building debian based packages there is a file called control in a folder called DEBIAN that maintains this information, it gets really heavy tons of documentation on just to build a simple package. place pre / post installation scripts and md5sum integrated checking and you about have to read the library of congress ;)

Just installed this to try it out, and Ultimatix works better than Automatix ever did!!!
I'm still fairly new to linux, but ANYTHING I can do to help...
I'm finding that it's not that difficult to learn (it's going to be a job requirement, I'm a mechanic, and the new alignment equipment I'm looking at from Hunter is linux based)
Anyway, keep up the good work! Your "BETAS" look and act better than most other "Final Products".

Thanks brother, means alot, I actually try to make them fail, so I can fix it before anyone else has a problem... I honestly do not care if I break my O/S in the process ;) Better that I find a problem then a newbie, no pun intended.

Thanks again,

TheeMahn

Great script, but where is the music from the "old" ultimate upgrade script? That was a nice feature ;)

Need some help from someone if possible, trying to run Thesmahn's Ultamatix script and keep getting errors.

sudo apt-get remove --purge ultimate-edition
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package ultimate-edition

sudo dpkg -i Ultimatix_1.8.0-1-harty_all.deb
dpkg: error processing Ultimatix_1.8.0-1-harty_all.deb (--install):
cannot access archive: No such file or directory
Errors were encountered while processing:
Ultimatix_1.8.0-1-harty_all.deb

Is ther something wrong with my repo configured in apt-get or something?

I' running Hardy Hotrod 1.8 32bit and upgraded to gamers edition.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

Thank you TheeMahn for the Ultamatix script. I have downloaded most of the things that I wanted but I get errors on some which are: Fatal Error on Gdesklets, OpenOffice Clip art, Microsoft Office Translator and Archiving Tools. And they all say "An apt-based error occurred and installation was unsuccessful" Also Google Earth just hangs when trying to install. :(

Update: I have been able to install everything that I wanted. I had a pending system update which had Google 4.2 as a download so I let it install. After that all the other programs in Ultamatix were able to load. I left the Google in Ultamatix uncheck for install since it was already there. Still to new to be able to tell you everything that happened, some things I just luck up on the answer. <BREW> :D

this is my first post.. I hope i'm in the right thread asking the right questions..
this script that i've been reading about.. this is something you use "after installing 8.04.1?"
or after "installing ultimate 1.8"?
one or the other or both?
is this script already installing what is already in 1.8? or is it for those that are installing a plain 8.04.1?
like automatix, is this list of goodies checkable, check what you want or dont want? so you can have an "ultimate" but kinda streamlined for yourself , but using your excellent script?
is there a way (since there is more software for 32bit) since i'm using a 64bit system (amdtriplecore 8450) that i can use or EASILY install/update the kernel to see all 4 gigs of my ram?

thanks...

i hope i'm asking the right question the right way...
thanks for any info..

Tried out Frostwire tonight, but nothing happens.

I have had this issue ever since installing 1.8 64bit.

Limewire installs and runs fine.....for Limewire.

I click on the link for Frostwire, and absolutely nothing happens.

Any ideas??

Cheers
