I have a 500gb external drive and the difference between USB2.0 and ESATA is day and night ESATA is like having the hard drive installed inside. It is essentially a SATA port with extra shielding on the cable. I might add the cable isnt cheap either. I currently have the drive out of the external and have it installed but I have the case etc.. if I want to go back to external.
