Some have been telling me on other forums that SATA does not work well with Ubuntu-based Linux distros...especially SATA2 & SATA3. Is this true? Most of the motherboards I'm considering only have SATA3 connectors. Might be able to find a few with SATA2 connectors. Mobile-rack hard disc drives are all either SATA2/SATA3. Is this going to be a problem? I definitely don't want to fool with compiling code, and all that stuff (I'm strictly a GUI user sort).

you should have no issues installing SATA III as long as you have AHCI enabled in the bios prior to install. Make note that if you are installing dual boot with windows, changing this controller option can prevent windows from booting. You can prevent this bye taking these steps here before changing controller mode in windows http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976...
