NVIDA AND HDMI

Postby kjl56 » Thu Jun 30, 2011 5:43 am

I RECENTLY DID A CLEAN INSTALL OF Ultimate Edition 2.9 X64 ON A NEW SYSTEM.
I AM USING A NVIDA 8400 PCIE X16 WITH HDMI OUT( DVI AND ANALOG NOT BEING USED) 1GIG OF DDR3 RAM ON CARD.
I SET UP THE OS WITH THE DEFAULT DRIVERS AND IT INSTALLED WITH 1080P THAT
THE CARD NATIVITY SUPPORTS THROUGH HDMI AND HDMI AUDIO ALSO WORKS.
I NEED TO KNOW IF THE RESTRICTED NVIDA DRIVERS WILL BRAKE THE 1080P OUTPUT SETTING
OF THIS CARD.
I HAVE TRIED TO GET SOME INFO ON THE WEB AT NVIDA AND OTHER FORUMS BUT CAN
NOT FIND ANYTHING CONCERNING THIS .

SPECS:GRAPHIC CARD NVIDA 8400 PCIE X16 WITH HDMI MAIN BOARD GIGABYTE M68MT-SP2 1X 16L PCIE, 2X PCI 1, 1XPCI, AMD PHENOM 2 [email protected], 4GIG CORSAIR DDR3 1066 @1333MHZ XMS3, Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty GAMER,40 GIG HITICHI DESKSTAR USB 2.0 HD, PCI FIREWIRE 400 CARD?, U.E.2.9 X64

Re: NVIDA AND HDMI

for any one interested through some testing i found that u.e 2.9 will display 1920p X 1080p on this card.
but it will brake a lot of other things doing so, it seams, and i am not able to confirm this yet,
audio became unstable through any digital interface (analog only worked) and the hdmi as well as the sound
card where enabled on install, hdmi was disabled through the sound controller applet , alis mixer deactivated,
pulls audio server only sound interface running, could not hold a pcm stream at all.
6 cores @ 2.8 gig one core running at 100% others at lower levels.
hdmi activated no sound.
did not use the nvida restricted drivers.
other os ,installed OZ UNITY 64x completed and updated (hdmi 1080p durring install, on reboot
no boot screen, hooked up hp 19 inch monitor, 144ox900 native, connected on dvi to analog cable)
installed nvida restricted drivers on reboot, clicking on any icon would minimize to the system tray, when
clicking the mouse the window open and closed in a split second, could not remove nvida driver.
i know this is not an OZ forum but there seams to be some real issues with Linux, hd video cards
nvida drivers.
if any one has gotten or not gotten hd through hdmi or dvi pleas post back
thanks

Re: NVIDA AND HDMI

Postby kjl56 » Fri Jul 01, 2011 8:44 pm

after some reboots and a little adjusting i was able to do an update to U>E 2.9 here is the X log after that ad still have the High Restoration.
some things i want to mention;the main board has analog nvida graphics chip a720 that ran fine connected to the hp 19 inch monitor with the nVIDA RESTRICTED DRIVERS INSTALLED ,AFTER THE PCIE 16X CARD WENT IN x WOULD NOT LOAD AT ALL.
HAD TO LOG IN AT THE COMMAND PROMPT AND DO THE STARTX AND GOT ,NO SUCH DIRECTORY EXIST.
on the next install and this 3rd one with out NVIDA RESTRICTED DRIVERS INSTALLED THE DISPLAY IS FINE
BUT AUDIO IS MESSED UP BAD.
I AM GETTING THE HDMI AUDIO COMING THROUGH THE SOUND BLASTER SEEKERS AND THE HDMI HAS NOE SOUND AT ALL.
I HAVE INSTALLED LATEST ALAS MIXER THROUGH COMMAND LINE AND NOTHING CHANGED.
THERE IS ANOTHER HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO CONTROLLER ON THE MOTHER BOARD THAT IS DISABLED IN BIOS
I HAD A BLUETOOTH ADAPTER AND A PINNICAL TV 800E USB THAT I TOOK OF THE SYSTEM BECAUSE IT SEAMED BOTH WHERE CAUSING ISSUES WITH THE SOUND DRIVERS.
NOW IF I SET THE AUDIO OUT PUT THE THE SOUND PLASTER AND SET THE PULSE AUDIO SERVER TO HANDEL THE STREAM IT WORKS BUT ONLY IN STAR UP THEN THE SIGNAL DROPS AND IT WILL ONLY PLAY A PCM STREAM NO MATER WHAT PLAYER OR STREAM IS BEING USED DTS DOUBLY ECT, I AM USING DIGITAL ONLY OUT AND IF I SET ALAS MIXER TO HANDLE THE SPFID AND PCM AS WELL AS OTHER SIGNALS, I GET NOTHING AT ALL.
I HAVE HAD SOME OLDER CREATIVE CARDS WORK LIVE 24BIT AND OTHERS AND GET THE CORRECT CONNECTION AND STREAM WHEN THERE.
WHEN CHANGING THE SETTINGS IN SOUND SETTINGS TO ANYTHING OTHER THEN THE DEFAULT IT MAKES THE PC UNRESPONSIVE WHERE IT RUNS WORST THEN A PENTIUM 3 WAITING AND HAVING TO CLICK WINDOWS 10X
TO CLOSE OR WAITE A LONG TIME AND NOT ABLE TO PLAY A DVD, ECT
UBUNTU IS PUSHING THE UPGRADE TO NO END BEFORE I EVEN INSTALLED THE OS A WINDOW POPPED UP FOR UPGRADING.
I BELIEVE THE HDMI AUDIO AND THE SOUND CARD ARE CAUSING THE ISSUES BUT NOT SURE
IS THERE ANY WAY FOR THEM TO DISRUPT NORMAL OPERATING OF U.E
