Hello, Anybody care to comment RE: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz Six-Core Socket AM3 CPU w/ Hyper Transport and running Ultimate Edition linux with it?

CyberPower's web site has some fantastic customizable units with this processor;

Thanks for any input! <BREW>

dathem,
I have been looking at this processor for several weeks. I think I'm gonna try one, and I've found what might just be a really good deal on a Bare-bones system fro TigerDirect at this link:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/email/WEM2429.asp?SRCCODE=WEM2429BY&cm_mmc=Email-_-Main-_-WEM2429-_-tigeremail

Have you any experience with this processor? If so, how do you like it? And, how does this Bare-bones deal look to you?

Hello, No, I have never used this processor before, I just noticed several good deals recently and have been drooling ever since. Man that deal from Tiger Direct barebones sounds like a real great deal, they must have just set that up as I looked like a few days ago and no such barebones kit like that was available, or it didn't show up the way I searched. Now I am a sobering mess, LOL!! Since I can't get it as I promised the wife to get some furniture before, I get any computer stuff, DRATS! If you order it let me (us) know how it works out, please. I would think this 6 core system would be usable for many years to come! Hope you get one! <BREW> <BREW>

dathem,
Thanks for the feedback. I'll be sure to let all know if I do order the system. I have a good GPU and drives, so the BB is all I'd need to get it up and running. It does sound like a real screamer, don't it???
BTW, if you'd like to see the "Daily Deals" from Tiger, just go to http://www.tigerdirect.com and use the "Sign up for our deal alerts" at the top of the home page, give them and email address and you'll get more "Deals" than you can use! There are always new deals on items every day. If nothing else, it's fun to dream a little...

6 core, man I just built a quad core with a AMD 955 BE c3 revision.
Had to comment on the ebay BB package. I would pass for these reasons alone.
Motherboard only has 2 RAM slots (up to 1333 speed, and 8GB max), 1 PCI-Express slot, it says 1 PCI slot but the pic shows 2 PCI 5 volt slots, only comes with 2 GB of RAM, SATA II 3Gbps (no 6Gbps), no USB 3.0, the PSU is only 380 watt, and it only mentions the CPU fan (what no case fans?).
You can do better.

Here's what I would look at for about $26 more and it has the 1055T, faster RAM (4GB) expandable to 16GB, then pick a graphics card (choose what fits your needs), dvd drive (about $20-$25) and a decent hard drive if you don't already have a couple lying around.
Newegg wish list

That's basically what I have but with a Phenom II x4 955 BE. I'm real happy with it.
Food for thought, or at least more to drool over.

can we cut costs by using the old case, or will it be a new and stand alone system?

OBTW hopefully the rails will reach the 8 pin up top
