When you install Ubuntu (our flavor of course) is the card reader detected as individual volumes??? that would have to be mounted the same as USB devices???

I have a USB-cardreader installed in a floppy-slot in my cabinet and they are recognized.

That's the same set up as mine, on my Win xp box, which I intend to convert to linux...my question is this, when you insert a SD card, you have to mount it right? in order to read what's on it, thank you for the help by the way :)

I just pop it in, and then left-click on it to open it, but I do have to unmount it before I take it out.

Like in Windows - no thank you. If deate want it its fine, but I prefer not to have things popping op :D
(That is if I understand you correctly )

But now we talk about things doing them selves, are there anyway a forum page like this can be set to update automatically ? ( just wondering ) :)

I think that the USB problem is PCI related, but I'm not sure of that, since the USB option being off shouldn't affect the bootability of the SATA drive but does.I'll test some LiveDVD brews I've got and post results. I'm not saying that you're wrong when it comes to your own needs.Ubuntu runs with a pretty GUI on basic PCs, Vista you need to buy a new PC. Ubuntu is free, Vista.
