You can find the proper driver from the Nvidia site itself: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us . ;)

Ok, how do I locate a way to pull up a system specs that shows everything that I have on my computer? Maybe this way when I copy and paste it, someone can assist me in locating the proper driver for it.

I'm gonna assume that to install this driver, it's gonna take a lot of manual work?

Ok I think I found something that may help...

nVidia Corporation NVCrush11(GeForce2 MX Integrated Graphics) (rev b1)

Does that help? I'm not seeing any version numbers or anything yet.

Are you sure the 96 version will work? I selected that from the hardware driver list and all it did was scramble my screen really bad. Couldn't get it off because I couldn't see anything. So I had to reinstall Ultimate Edition clean all over again.

It looks like the same version from the Hardware Driver screen.

It's VGA

The monitor I am using is old, a NEC MultiSync A500 model.

Suggestions on how to make this better?

I can't afford a new flat screen monitor, at least not yet and prolly not for a long while.

My job dropped me to 2 days a week and my wife is on SSD. So I'm financially strapped at the moment. :(

Currently looking for a new job, but with the rising unemployment and ppl losing their jobs en masses, finding a new job will be like locating a needle in a haystack.

I would appreciate that.

I had been thinking of dropping down, so I guess that's my only option for the moment.

so 1.8 is Ubuntu 8.04?

Thanks

I don't suppose there's something for 8.10 that has some software that behaves just like "Screens & Graphics" that I can install and use? I really hated the fact that the Ubuntu team took this feature off.

Just checked with the Ubuntu forum and they pointed me to this....

Please read http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/rele...ideo%20support

And reading this....

The 71 and 96 series of proprietary nVidia drivers, as provided by the nvidia-glx-legacy and nvidia-glx packages in Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, are not compatible with the X.Org included in Ubuntu 8.10. Users with the nVidia TNT, TNT2, TNT Ultra, GeForce, GeForce2, GeForce3, and GeForce4 chipsets are affected and will be transitioned on upgrade to the free nv driver instead. This driver does not support 3D acceleration.

So does this mean I'm screwed? I use the legacy driver.

1.8 is very good, trust me,and is based off of 8.04LTS(long time support)so you'll have all the support till april2011.At least this way you'll not lose the 3d acceleration,I hope.
Tip:if you have a 64bit cpu try the 1.8 64bit and you won't be sorry.<BREW>
