what happens with the 'terminal' option in GDM? Can you get there with your keyboard and mouse still working?

Have not tried that yet..reinstalled 1.8 on another drive..had to disconnect "all" USB connection for it to work except for the keyboard and mouse..will try later when time permits ;)

Ok, I'm going to ask some more stupid questions, as I am still trying to learn, so be patient with me  Could you not leave both hooked up, till you edited you xorg.? Linux supports multiple input devices, right???Also, as this is apparently a multimedia device(Looks like???) wouldn't it have to have 2 sections in the xorg.? I guess my real thought is that this would be similar to hooking up an aux.(usb) keyboard to a laptop, although I've never done this, I would assume it can be done.

That is not a stupid question..tried multiple ways..no go on any installs yet..reinstalled 1.8 like I said even that hung up with cannot read USB 6-5 or something like that..knew I might have a problem though..was looking for an easy fix..not hard to unplug keyboards..or reinstall...thanks for asking..Dadddy will get back at you later on your possible fix...
Daddy I can log in..but that is all..nothing works..mouse cursor doesn't even show..when I plug in another port on mouse it works and then freezes...

I'm going to offer up bizarre suggestion but only because it worked for me on a previous version of plain vanilla 'buntu. I was having this very same issue with Feisty if I recall correctly. Maybe Gutsy too...

Anyway, here's the deal. If you have a PS2-connector keyboard, plug it in along WITH your fancy-pants Stealth-O-Matic. That's right, boot up with both keyboards plugged in and see if your USB-based, rub our noses in your back-lit splendor, Uber-board won't work properly for you then.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am...

If it's not broken, you haven't tweaked it enough.
