HP Printer Refill

Postby szaemon » Mon Jun 30, 2008 12:21 am

To refill or Not to refill that is the question...

I read so many opinions both good and bad about refilling a print cartridge...
Has anyone hear successfully done it? I have an HP 2610 All in 1, and 4 print cartridges cost more than the printer. What is that, about 40ml of ink and not enough sponge to wash dishes with? Does anyone have experience with an effective method of refilling one and reseting the system to accept it?
If you do, please let me know.
Thanks.

Wallgreens?...The trip to The States just might outweigh the savings, but I will take it under consideration if they raise the price any higher...

You need to be careful with refilling your ink cartridges.
The Ink they use in most of the refill kits is substandard and can plug-up your printer.
Took me 3 printers to find this out.

Issue #2...
Many of the newer cartridges you can't refill without a special device to reset the tiny chip built into them.
More $$$ spent.

Thanks Leadfingers, I Hadn't considered the substandard ink quality. More concerned about the print quality than the printer's health. Every time I buy a new set of cartridges I consider buying a new printer, as they're almost the same price.

As for that chip you mentioned, where does one get it?

Many web sites for ink refill kits sell the device to unlock the chip in your ink cartridge, but not all manufactures have the chips in their cartridges. will take some checking out to see if you even need one.

I started to post that I got in the habit of buying a new Epson printer each time my ink runs out, but decided that you might not be close to a good retail store that runs specials on printers. I live close to Fry's and they always have closeout specials, so for $20 or $30 more than the ink I get a whole new unit.

As for the print quality, it's pretty close to the original, you just have to be careful about refilling them before they run out and you can't let your printer set unused for any length of time.

Good thing I don't do a whole lot of printing!!!

I used to have a Brother all-in-one printer with seperate print head from the ink cartridge and when you didn't use the printer for a long time it would clog the print head that was non-replacable and you would have to buy a whole new printer ...... freak'n lame  !!!! Got a nice little Canon now and never have this issue anymore :D
