Install everything with Ubuntu software centre associated with virtualbox. Uninstall with synaptic package manager. Now install with deb packages from Oracle or even reinstall with synaptic. Everything should be fine, make sure you update.

Lol..it is a POS. Umm..standard cheap Asus motherboard with Foxconn B.S. including '98 realtek sound(not a Linux problem, but took a couple weeks to find on Windows), AMD Athlon single core, 70gb hdd, and a 32mb video card. I replaced the video card, don't care about the sound as long as it works, and I have moved drives a couple times. It is an amalgamation of old and new technology using RAID to bypass it's tech limitations but not always so well. The processor has just about had it, and until I come across another one for like..idk 5 bux it will just have to do. Mostly I use its power sources for drives attached to my other PC.

Xanayoshi, Just trying to understand your Vbox installation work around here. All that should need to be done is uninstall all vbox from synaptic, if vbox install is present. Goto vbox site and download appropriate version. Install that version. Download VirtualBox Extension Pack and install. Goto users and groups and add your user to vboxusers group and restart. Ubuntu software center- cant say i ever even open...
