Ultimate Edition Forum

hi there,

i just switched to ultimate edition after using a lot of other flavours of linux. i really loved the ultimate edition 2.6.5 especially for its looks but as i ahve ati graphics and i couldnt install its driver on it (ubuntu 10.04 bug) i had to install Ultimate Edition 2.9 x64.

now the thing is i really want to get the awesome looks and feel of ultimate edition 2.6.5 in 2.9 like the terminal showing wallpaper even above another window, the awesome themes etc..
please let me how to do it....

the thing is i have uninstalled Ultimate Edition 2.6.5 for that matter and installed Ultimate Edition 2.9. every thing works just fine. i want to know can i import the visual settings and config and other things like kernel upgrade etc from the Ultimate Edition 2.6.5 installer. coz it is a better version in terms of all this as compared to Ultimate Edition 2.9.

I doubt it. It might be possible, however.

i tried 2.9.. i guess 2.6.5 is best.. its fast to boot, fast otherwise, has kernel 3, and is a long term support release.. so am installing it again.. will you please let me know all the possible ways of installing ati driver on ubuntu 10.04 that you know have worked?

ATI Mobility radeon hd5730
intel core i7 740qm

Go to ATI and see if you can use your video card with Ubuntu.

I also had trouble with installing the ATI driver on 2.6.5 so I went back to 2.6.3 with no problem so I stayed.

It really depends on your hardware. My home system didn't like 2.9, but loves 2.6.x. The work computer, by any measure a slower machine with a poorer graphic card has no problem with 2.9
