Hi Linuxnut69! I did some digging around and found this

c/p

General Error format ...

Code: Select all
BusyBox vX.XX.X(Ubuntu X:X.X.X-XXXXXX) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

Code: Select all
(initramfs) mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on //filesystem.squashfs failed: Input/output error
Can not mount /dev/loop0 (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on //filesystem.squashfs

This error is really frustrating and after googling for a looong time I still had no fix :(

but then I found out that by not mounting the drives when ubuntu booted up , this can be stopped !

First in the menu that appears , select Default and press Tab .

Change this
Code: Select all
initrd=/ubninit file=/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper quiet splash --

to
Code: Select all
initrd=/ubninit file=/preseed/custom.seed boot=casper nohd --

Ta Da ! no more errors ... !!!

Well i hope this helps you......

Well that does not work for 2 reasons-
1. I am booting from the DVD, first I get a window that says push any key for menu, then it asks for language, if i press F6 i can modify the boot loading options. Pushing tab does nothing for me, maybe you are refering to USB booting ?
2. I have tried to edit the boot options by removing (quiet splash --) and adding instead (nohd --) *no change
3. I do not have ubuntu.seed.boot=casper, I have this line when booting with options-
file=/cdrom/preseed/Ultimate Edition.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz quiet slash --

I have tried to remove the Ultimate Edition from the line above and change it to custom, thinking ubuntu and Ultimate Edition were maybe the same thing, so putting custom in it's place might work, NO results.
I am unsure as to what to try next
I now do not get the same error, howere it still exits to busybox shell with a prompt (initramfs)

Thanks for the suggestion, maybe there is something I am missing.

Well I have given up on trying to get Ultimate Edition 3.2 to boot on this computer, Ubuntu 11 as well. I have downloaded Kubuntu 12.04 64bit and it works without any problems at all ! So I will wait to update my Ultimate Edition 2.9 until there is a version based of the 12 series of Ubuntu. Thanks to you guys who offered advice and help trying to solve this problem for me. I have tried it everything I know and nothing worked, moving on. :roll:
I cant wait to see what the future holds for Ultimate Edition, maybe some more artwork ? Great work Theemahn, and admins, keep it up. See you when the next release based off of 12 is out. 8-)

Hello linuxnut69,
Have you tried upgrading Busybox to Busybox.1.20.0 ?
This may/may not help but it may be worth a try. :?

Hello linuxnut69,
BusyBox has it's own website but I am afraid can't advise on installing/upgrading it.You could perhaps try via Symantic Package Manager, but you would need to use Linux Mint or another OS.
If you don't know how to do it and can't get help from one of the admins then perhaps it's a bad idea. Sorry, but I thought you might have had a knowledge of BusyBox itself. If you don't then it's perhaps not a good idea, after all!
Since my last post I have learned that 1.20.0 is unstable" anyway, but there are other versions.

Perhaps you could look at the BusyBox website as it contains patches for bug-fixes for the different releases?
Alternatively, you could try the Linuxquestions Forum for more technical advice from people who may have had problems with BusyBox.The problem may have nothing to do with BusyBox itself anyway, but the release version of U.E.3.2.
Please bear in mind though that U.E.3.2 is an experimental release and not of itself, a " stable" one. I
The next stable release of Ultimate Edition will , I believe, be 3.3 which TheeMahn is working on now and should have any remaining bugs fixed.Alternatively you could try an earlier version. I am using 3.0.1 and it is totally stable and the last release before 3.2.Sorry I can't help more.The only real difference with 3.2 is the addition of other desktop environments, Unity, Gnome-shell,etc but that may be the route of some of the problems. I could not get Gnome-shell up and running on my computer so I stuck with 3.0.1.Other people have had other problems with 3.2, while others still have had none.
If you don't need 3.2 specifically I would advise trying U.E.3.0.1.or wait for 3.3. It shouldn't be that long a wait.
You should have no problem with either of those providing tou burn to DVD and not CD. :(

Thanks for the reply and information. I am going to wait for 3.3 then, I am doing just fine with Ultimate Edition 2.9, but it is an interesting problem I was having booting the DVD, so I figured I would give it a shot a solving the problem. But apparently it is beyond my scope of understanding, no big deal, i tried. Thanks again.

Just to keep whomever is reading this thread up to date, I have managed to install Kubuntu 12 without any problems, but Ultimate Edition and ubuntu still give me the same error, and any variant based off of ubuntu also. I wonder what is different about Kubuntu ? Great to see the website and forums back up and running also !
