some one help with psu wattage please

Postby Cyberboy109 » Tue Jun 07, 2011 1:53 pm

Oki I bought my self a antek isk 300 - 150 itx case got it for a steal since the psu was faulty and I was giving a 160 watt pico psu for free, turns out the pico is better than anteks own built in psu.
My problem is what i can use with 160 watts I did use the online calculator but I want to make sure with you lot Ill be safe.
heres wat I have
1 x ddr3 4gb
2 x ssd 64gb
2 x 80mm fans artics
asus m4a88t deluxe itx
1 x slim line dvd/cd writer.

If I buy the amd athlon II x4 3ghz the calculator says
minimal 144 watts
recomended 194 watts

If i say go with the amd athlon II X2 3ghz
mini 119 watts
recomended 169 watts

basicly will I be oki with any of theese setups? I could buy an external psu but there bigger than my case and defeats the whole point of me having a small factor pc

5 days, this question went un answered, my apology.

When it was made, I was in the mountains camping and shooting a ton of holes in tin cans with 22's lol.

I hope you are still around and was able to resolve this.

That said, never wise to just meet minimal specs. Overkill it some and the PSU will run cooler and live longer.

That said, Math calls for the entire build to use 154 watts tops providing you use something like ATI 4250 HD integrated graphics.

my general rule of thumb is start with 500W and go up. If you have multiple HD's and a big videocard, I would think about 700W or more. That's just a feel from me, as I have burnt out smaller PS's.
