The Dark side of brother printers

Postby dalgar » Sat Feb 16, 2008 10:17 pm

OK I am putting a nice dent in my desk trying to get my brother fax-2440c working.
It's a USB printer. I went to the brother site and tried their deb package for the FAX-2440c.
No joy. I even uninstalled the printer driver, but ubuntu found the printer recognized it as the FAX-2440C and installed a Generic driver.
I tried the driver list for Brother but it does not list my printer. HELP!!!!! :o

Well it looks like switching to KDE fixed the printer issue. I dunno. Well next is my scanner.

Starting to sound a lot like Windows!!! The best place to look for drivers is here:
http://www.driverguide.com/
There is a registration and limited downloads for that day, but it is free.
I found a driver(and software) for an Alaris Wee Cam circa 1999 there.
good luck, pch
