All the ones I've seen are very cheap and would only cover cost of media and shipping. I saw one that freaked me out at first, but come to find out that he was actually selling his computer with the OS pre-installed!

Yes, but what I think people fail to realize is that you can get the latest commercial version of ubuntu shipped to you as a live cd, then you can distro upgrade into the newest. I just dont think its right that these people are selling something that can be obtained freely. I mean, what if I downloaded the newest Ultimate Edition and sold the copies on ebay as a new os? Dont think themahn would be two pleased with that specially since hes seeing no profit off his work :)

I don't think people are failing to realize anything. Heres the funny thing about your "free" theory, Ebay is helping pay for this site and forum by means of Google and Yahoo. Not only that, the more that people see it (any linux/debian distro), the bigger the community. The bigger the community, the more support. The more support, the more stable of the release. The more stable of the release, the better the OS .... surprise, your here ;)

It is no difference then them charging for Ultimate Edition & he loses nothing but bandwidth. He's is not linked from my site & I make 0 for what he drawls in. The bandwidth I provide is free to the end user ;) Be it from me or someone that cares & helps by mirroring. He lives overseas where nothing can be done, he has made money off it no doubt.
