Thunderbird

Anyone using thunderbird for mail? I was just wondering if there is a way to "lock" an email- keep from deleting it from the inbox or folder its in. Searched around a bit, but came up dry. I belong to several email lists and frequently delete a lot of posts at a time. Sometimes I goof and delete what I was saving for future reference.

I have the same problem. I searched through all of the extensions, faq and every other place I could think of with no luck  What I do is tag the emails I want to keep so that hopefully the different color catches my eye BEFORE I do something stupid. It doesn't always work though, then again I'm REALLY good at finding ways to do something stupid!!! If anyone knows a way to do this, please share.

Yup, been there AND the public forums, no luck. Not a MAJOR issue, more of a convenience than anything.. but then again, isnt that what computing is all about? (well, that and games and um, movies, music, graphics..and um well...)

The problem with that is I use the option to leave the messages on the server until I delete them so I can access them from all of the comp I use and when you move a email into a different folder thunderbird thinks it's been deleted and removes it from the server, at least it does in that other OS. I haven't tried the linux version. Something for me to do when I get home. It's not a big problem, just would be nice to be able to protect them.

Just added this on to my TB..

https://nic-nac-project.de/~kaosmos/mboximport-en.html

I dunno, might be a bit redundant. If we cant lock 'em, maybe saving/exporting them will be as good?

Nice find jfg69, I had looked around for something like that but only found this which has problems exporting and doesn't import at all. Kinda defeats the purpose if ya can't import back into thunderbird. Thanks for finding this, I will definitely test it out later. :D
