I am trying to add virtual box to 1.8 via synaptic but find the list mind boggling. Can anyone offer any advice what I should mark for installation?
Thanks in advance

Looks like the one you want to install would be the 'virtualbox-ose'

Edit: your were posting same time as well....before you install anything...did you run the Upgrade Icon ??

Hi Saddle tramp
The last time I clicked upgrade it replaced my Ultimate Edition with Ubuntu Hardy basic. I am a bit nervous as to whether to do it again. :?

Awww man, that's no good!! Did you run it by selecting "Custom"?? That way you can 'select' what you wish to install...other wise what I had show up under "Add/Remove" when I was under 32bit was 'virtualbox-ose', so I figure that is the one to install under Synaptic :)

Yup! "Virtual box ose" is it and I thank you for your patience. I have been using Ultimate Edition since last November and Ubuntu for not much longer so I think I am still a bit green. Can you tell me what you mean by selecting "custom"?
Thanks again

I have virtual box running without any problems. The OSE version I believe doesn't allow usb support and a few other things. I downloaded the full version here: https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_SMI-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewProductDetail-Start?ProductRef=innotek-1.6-G-F@CDS-CDS_SMI and like I said, no problems.
