Problem with Workspaces

Postby lunerceli » Thu Dec 29, 2011 8:13 am

Ok, I know this is a strange one, but whenever I send a window to another workspace, that window disappears and does not show up on the other workspace. Another thing that is weird is that when I put Workspace Switcher on the panel, it only shows one workspace, but when I CTRL+ALT+Y it shows 4 desktops (workspaces). Has anyone came across this problem yet? Or is it a limitation with Mint??

Hello lunerceli .

did you right click on the Workspace and configure them to - 4?
if you have done that , then look into the Compiz configuration = the Compiz Icon on the top.
There configure the window manager, and the in Direct Rendering+Gtk.
Then Reload the compiz manager.

just look in Ubuntu Tweak to see that you have check the CCSM box and it is Active.

Workspace setting is at 4 (see screen shot)

When I go into the Compiz settings, I can't find Direct Rendering+GTK settings at all. Also, I can't find in Ubuntu Tweak where there is a check box for CCSM ... If maybe you could provide screen shots? Cause maybe I am over looking something. Thanks again Amir and sorry for being so much trouble ... Oh, and if you look down at the bottom right of the screen shot, you can see where I have workspace switcher enabled and it is only showing 1 workspace ...

lunerceli.

First I do not see Compiz icon working on the top bar in the right.
Those options will be there After you start the compiz Icon.
Bot please give me few min to run my system in VBox to get screen shots for you.

Okay, I got my fusion Icon up ... at first didn't think it was installed cause I couldn't find it anywhere. I went to window manager and it is set to compiz. I don't think I have had this many problems with anything else ... but it was a lot of tweaking on TheeMahn's part though .. LOL.

Ok, I got it figured out sort of. Under compiz, I can only have one desktop, but if I change to Metacity, then it allows me to have more than one and switch between them, but compiz doesn't though ... any thoughts on that one Amir??

Looking at your screen shots, mine is set up the exact way, but still only have one desktop under Compiz though.

Sorry, I forgot to answer that question. I have the latest ATI driver installed, which is 11.12. It is active and everything with the card is working correctly.
