Hi all,

So I wanted to use googlecalendar within thunderbird.
The version of thunderbird that is installed in UE3.0 is to old and no support for this extention.
So I wanted to install latest stable release.
The normal way to do this is run in terminal
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/thunderbird-stable

result:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/add-apt-repository", line 60, in <module>
sp = SoftwareProperties()
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/softwareproperties/SoftwareProperties.py", line 90, in __init__
self.reload_sourceslist()
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/softwareproperties/SoftwareProperties.py", line 538, in reload_sourceslist
self.distro.get_sources(self.sourceslist)
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/aptsources/distro.py", line 91, in get_sources
raise NoDistroTemplateException("Error: could not find a "
aptsources.distro.NoDistroTemplateException: Error: could not find a distribution template

no source is added in the sources.list.
So you can not install it with synaptic package manager. :?

SOLUTION: :D

Ok let's see, :)

you can open thunderbird directly from the folder you extracted in your download folder see if that works.
Look for the thunderbird bash script almost add the bottom.(thunderbird)
Right click and select OPEN and answer RUN IN TERMINAL.
If this works you can manually place the folder /usr/share.
Now this not really required but I do this to get it out of the way.

on your desktop tab Alt+F2 and enter gksudo nautilus so now your in the filemanager as root.
Go to the download folder and copy past the thunderbird folder to /usr/share.
The rest stays the same.

Oeps did not see that your site admin I suppose that this is common knowledge for you :oops:
I will test it again in virtualbox machine to replicate the situation on the host, But it work't like charm for me.
