Already done, but honestly, I think its more work then its worth.

also open synaptic and type in 3.0.0-8 and completely remove all 3 packages if they are still installed.

Just a suggestion to start back at the basics by
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer b43-fwcutter
Just copy and paste into terminal and execute it. Then to be sure there's no proprietary driver in use, you can
Code: Select all
sudo modprobe -r b43 wl
and then
Code: Select all
sudo modprobe b43
If that works and you can connect, then verify there is a listing in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf that says
Code: Select all
blacklist wl
Installing the firmware is supposed to install fwcutter, but won't hurt to do it as listed above to be sure it installs the driver and firmware. To shortcut the blacklist entry you can
Code: Select all
echo blacklist wl >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
