Wow ... thank you for bringing that one up. I didn't even think about the Mint update manager. I went into Synaptic and it wasn't even installed, but I am installing it now with all of it's dependencies. Once it installs and all, what would you like me to try after that?? Just updating everything?

lunerceli,

This is my way for work around the system to look into all the options First,
Then to solve issues with systems.
The Direct connection between them all is the Repo's conflict's/issues.
welcome to the Testers world. :D

So what I ask you to do is to update/upgrade your system First with the Mint update manager,
Then reboot the system - After you back to your Desktop - let the system load right,
Then one more time try the mint update manager.

why?

you will have there update for your kernel+ in the next round you will get more update/upgrade for the system. ;)

Ok, I just finished installing the update manager and when I go into system>administration there are 2 update managers, one has a shield next to it and the other one says Welcome to Ubuntu update manager when it opens. Which one should I use??

Ok, I am updating now. It will take just about all night for it all to download. I have the fastest internet I can get here (which is 128 Kilobit per second). LOL. I know that is slow, but the basixnet guys don't want to up our bandwidth though cause it takes away from them being able to do things online. So I will bid you good night and we shall continue tomorrow if that is ok with you?? Thank you again for all of your help Amir.

Hello and good morning Amir. I have completely updated and there are no new updates for me in the Mint Update Manager. Now whenever I start the fusion-icon it messes up my graphics and causes borders to disappear and the system to become unresponsive. I still don't have more than one workspace using Compiz, but have mulitple workspaces using Metacity and Kwin. The drawback to using either of those though is that I can't use desktop cube, cube rotate or anything else like that .... LOL. So if you might have any other suggestions, they would be much appreciated. Thank you. Oh, and if you ever need someone with a different type of system than others and need help testing distros, then I am always down with helping out if you would like.

Hello lunerceli.

Good morning to you , is the combination keys of Ctrl+Alt+Arrows left right - up down work for you?
did you have try to change themes to your desktop? that can solve the issue with the window issue.
And well one more thing that was posted on my site bot did not have the time to post here on that.

OK, now After the instillation process + update/upgrade done.
The HDD looks like big mess!!!
So,how to get the system + HDD back to normal ?

that is easy lunerceli = use Bleach bit as user+ root.

USER:

ROOT USER:- That part can take very long time!!!! and it will free allot of space on your HDD!!! for me it was like 1.5GB!!!

please go for those steps and post back on the changes.

Thank you.

Well, I can CTRL+ALT+Arrows and they work like they are supposed to. The thing I don't get is that if those are other workspaces, then why doesn't the windows move to those workspaces when you send them there?? As far as cleaning up, that is the first thing that I do when I set up a new system. Clean up, free space, check for HDD problems and fragments, the whole 11 yards... LOL. I am racking my brain to figure out why Compiz won't let me have more than one desktop, but Kwin and Metacity do ... it I mind boggling to say the least .. LOL
