Then if you have any BOO BOOS you have a master copy of all the goodies you tweaked so patiently. Then transfer the home folder back to the copy. Most times I just leave it there and start over knowing I have my stuff saved. It's also a great way to show your friends how Geeky you are.

Another <BREW> for Remastersys! I like a DVD copy that I can hold in my grubby paw!! :D

OKAY what exactly do these glorious sites have to do with a simple back up and recover? I get the idea that you can make remixes, its a given that whatever tweaks are done can be remastered. But I would think for the noobs a simple solution will suffice.( K. I. S. S. ) One step at a time and all that. Not flamein', just sayin' No one is born an expert.

We all started as morons. It is a huge learning curve. Just sharing knowledge is important.

Ok, I think I got it?

A different way to clone and use the clone to make an install DVD complete with docs etc.
I missed the last step in my post, sudo /opt/drbl/sbin/ocs-iso (name of image)
For those who don't want or don't have a server.

Did I get it right???

Definitely sounds like something I could use.

Hello LinuxPusher Merry Christmas.

Did I get it right???

OK, Let's talk about the Server for sec.
The Best way to Back Up the Server will be with Snap shot!!!
WHY?
It will take small place on the Backup HDD/Flash...
You will Configure the software to take Snap shot of all the system,
on daily base,The if something will happens = then the lost is not big deal.

This is your option with what software to work with... Just make sure that it will cover all the work = Copy.

The 2 part on this Backup / Remix / Remastersys......

I will say this .... The Time that User spend on the part of the learn, know,do,Learn How To and so on,
This is the part that the user start to be in the space of his " HOME " working with the system.
This is the part that the User know how to Edit, work in the sudo User ,After the User know every package,
every plug in,players,workarounds......
Then the system that you want to Remix = has to cover in the Build all the knowledge
And there are alot of knowledge base that the User need to know from all over the Linux Systems in Advanced.

I do not talk here on me at all / OR /Thee and so on...
I just do not think that you like to make Copy of your system = Fine.
From here to go to Remastersys or any other good software that are out there,
man - This is not something that you can do without knowledge!
This is Years of working/Fixing/Editing/Making workarounds/and more =just to get the system work good.

So let's make First some work on the Background of the software First,
Then when we control the work with the software - Start to take care of the Next part....
You Need Back up :?: Open Synaptic under search - "Backup" - and check First the software,
Then install the packages and run Test's to all of what you fine good for you.
And The same with the options of the Snap shot / Backup /Restore..
The same process that you made has to be the User way to get what works good for him.
Besides, I was part of the ultimate system,
I am a lecturer in computer- network administrator and a few other things,
Part of the server and a backup server is one of the most important components of the defense of servers!
We use photographic backup servers.
Enabling real-time backup run last shot on 20 min to get the site as if nothing had happened.
BTW - ppl,You need to have 3 HDD install on the Server in Advanced because of the way that the Server works.
So every one of the HDD's hold just 1/3 of the full system !!!
If there is crash in the system = Restart will write the HDD that was Affected in the crash.
So you know that you need to make Full Backup just in that way right. ;)

Sorry that was long one from me,bot this part is not " walk in the park " ppl,
And for all of you ppl Merry Christmas & all the best for the New Year. <BREW> ;)
